Lady’s paw is getting better after receiving proper medication!
August 8, 2024
Dear friends, Lady has just finished a 2-week cycle of taking the medicine recommended by the orthopedist. The doctor took an x-ray of her paw and said that he sees a slight improvement.
Now I am still waiting for the opinion of the Polish doctors, but looking at Lady’s well-being I am very positive. The cat is clearly no longer in pain and no longer limping. Now she behaves like a healthy and happy kitten❤️

Dear friends I have good news about Lady’s health condition. As you know, the diagnosis was bad. In addition to general cachexia, the doctor said that the kitten has bone cancer and it is necessary to amputate the affected paw.
I began to look for help and confirmation of this diagnosis in Poland. I sent x-rays and blood results of the kitten to an orthopedist, who specializes in treating cats, and quickly got an answer, which gave me hope for saving Lady’s paw. The doctor said that, according to him, it is most likely not cancer, but quite advanced osteoarthritis. But there is a good chance to stop the disease and cure the paw.
So Lady started treatment with the drug prescribed by the orthopedist, enrofloxacin, and after two weeks we will see what the x-ray will show. My sister Maria, who lives in Poland and helps me a lot, e.g. in finding a doctor for online consultation, has given Lady medication and a lot of others that I can’t get in Malé. I hope Lady will recover, I would very much like to save her paw.
Dear friends I will keep you updated on the state of the kitty’s health and thank you again for helping to pay for the treatment. Thanks to you Lady is today a real beautiful lady ❤️

Yesterday Lady had another follow-up visit. Just look at how the kitten has changed in less than a month ❤️
In places where she was bald, she has grown a beautiful white coat. Lady has also put on weight. We are still fighting a skin infection on her nose and ear, but it is getting better every day. The doctor also took an x-ray of the affected paw. He has not yet decided on the date of amputation, he wants to be sure that anesthesia will not endanger Lady’s life.
Dear friends, it is thanks to you that the kitten got a chance for a new life. Every day I feel and see her gratitude and love when she comes and lies down next to me. She trusts me and knows that she will never come back to the street again ❤️

Lady is still weak, but slowly gaining strength. Her skin still needs treatment, but you can already see that the inflammations are healing nicely. Every evening I lubricate her diseased areas with ointment, which is why Lady’s ears and nose look like this.
The kitten also has to be bathed twice a week in a special healing shampoo. She tolerates it bravely. It’s like she understands that everything I do is for her good. She is very patient ❤️I can give her medication without any problems, and she takes a lot of it. My heart breaks when I look at her, because I know that the sick paw hurts her 😞
I have come to love her very much. I would like her to find the best home in the world after the surgery.
I promised her never to return to the street again ❤️

Dear friends, we did it! Thanks to you, we raised enough money to start Lady’s treatment!
The doctor did another X-ray and says that so far no new metastases are visible, so the cat still has a chance. Right now the doctors are working to stabilize her condition, because only then will it be possible to perform surgery and amputate the paw. At the moment, unfortunately, the cat is so weak that she might not survive the anesthesia. But as soon as she is stable, they will perform the operation. I will keep you updated.
I am very afraid for her. She looks so vulnerable….
Thank you again for your help. Thanks to you, there was a light at the end of a tunnel.

My friends, there is still a shortfall of 400$ so that we can provide Lady with treatment and surgery for paw amputation.
Please help us to raise this missing amount yet! Lady needs to start treatment and preparation for surgery as soon as possible, because this cancer is very malignant and can metastasize at any time.

Lady lies motionless on the sidewalk and looks as if she is already dead. I walk closer to her, and the cat raises her head and looks at me pleadingly. She tries to meow, but no sound comes out of her muzzle. The cat looks like a wreck, as if she consisted only of a skin-covered skeleton. Reddened, irritated skin shines through the sparse fur, and parts of her body are quite bald. Lady’s ears and neck are covered with lichen. Pus tinged with blood drips from her eyes. How is it possible that this cat is still alive at all?!
Lady allows me to approach, touch and stroke her. She even tries to purr. She meows soundlessly to me and with effort gets up, limping heavily. I can see that Lady completely trusts humans. I’m sure she used to be a house cat, because she doesn’t behave like street cats. She is happy that I approached and expects me to help her.
I think that when Lady got sick, she was simply dumped on the street. I’ve seen too many situations like this before. I feel despair and anger rising in me.
I gently lift Lady and take her straight to the clinic, although I don’t have the money to pay for the visit. I manage to beg the doctors to take me in once again on credit, although I still owe them for the previous cats.
The doctor examined Lady, drew blood for immediate tests and, concerned about the soreness of one of her paws, took an X-ray. Unfortunately the diagnosis is very, very bad. Lady has bone cancer, the focus of which is precisely in the paw. That’s why she is so skinny and devastated. The doctor says that this cancer is very malignant and quickly gives metastasis, so the only chance for her is urgent amputation of the paw. Because if metastasis occurs, it will be too late for rescue.
The doctors can start preparing for the operation right away, because Lady’s condition must first be stabilized. So weakened she probably wouldn’t survive anesthesia. But money is already needed for that. Without it, the doctors won’t do anything else. I have to pay for these preparations, for the operation, as well as for today’s tests and a whole commercial of medicine I got for her.
I took Lady home. Now she is lying on my lap. I’m stroking her and feeling all her bones under my fingers. I am overwhelmed with despair and helplessness, because Lady can’t wait! The treatment must begin NOW! Every additional day could kill her. And I don’t know if I will get the money. Swallowing tears, I quietly say to her that everything will be fine. And she trusts me so much….
I ask you from the bottom of my heart, I beg you to help!!!
