Do you recognize this adorable grey kitten?😉

March 6, 2025

Dear friends, do you recognize this adorable gray kitten? It’s our brave Fifi!

Some time has passed since the dramatic events at the end of January, and she has not only grown beautifully, but is also doing very well!

She is now a full member of the cat pack and enjoys life like any healthy, happy kitten.

Another important step lies ahead of us – after the weekend, Fifi will have a check-up and receive her first vaccination. Keep your fingers crossed for her!

Dear friends, tonight was an extremely difficult night. Little Fifi’s condition deteriorated rapidly – in just an hour she got such severe diarrhea that every minute was of paramount importance to find help for her. I did my best and managed to persuade a doctor to examine her, even though Malé’s clinics are not open 24 hours a day.

The doctor agreed to come, and by 1:30 a.m. I was already there with Fifi. Those two hours were very hard and full of anxiety. 😞

Now the kitten is resting. She is very weakened, but you can see from her that the worst is behind her. I believe she is slowly getting back to strength.

Whenever I have little kittens at home I get up every few hours to see if they are sure they are okay. Fortunately, it was the same with Fifi, so that her condition was quickly stabilized.

Tiny Fifi is probably less than a month old. Someone must have dropped her off here, at the place where I feed stray cats. She wasn’t here before, and she certainly didn’t come on her own. Her mom is nowhere to be found, although I waited for a long time, hoping that maybe she would show up after all.

Poor Fifi meows painfully. It’s not just mom’s calling. It’s the voice of a very suffering cat. I don’t know what’s wrong with her. From the outside, no injuries are visible. But the little one is running around, spinning in circles and tilting her head to one side. It looks like some kind of attack. As if she’s not doing it of her own accord. And she meows all the time in a way that makes your heart break.

Once I was sure that Fifi’s mother wouldn’t show up, I took her to the clinic.

After a thorough examination, the doctor ruled out infectious diseases and otitis, which could cause similar symptoms. He says it is some kind of serious neurological problem. It could be a congenital problem, but it could also be either the result of some accident and trauma, such as a child dropping it while carrying it in his arms. In order to find out anything and somehow help Fifi, a very thorough diagnosis needs to be done. But for now, not even an X-ray can be taken. The kitten is shaking badly, and no anesthesia, not even the mildest, is an option for now, because Fifi is too weak.

For now, Fifi has been given tranquilizers and painkillers, so she has stopped running around and meowing. This is good, because now she can rest a bit. She also got strengthening and hydration drips, because she is very emaciated and dehydrated. Then the doctor put her on under oxygen.

I am very much asking you to help Fifi. She has been in the world for such a short time and in such pain….

And if Fifi can be cured, her whole life is still ahead of her! A thorough examination needs to be done and only then will it be known what treatment is needed and whether we can help her. But let’s at least try.
