Four kittens just flew in!😊✈🐾

June 20, 2025

Dear friends, I would like to share with you the story of our long and emotional struggle to ensure that the cats we rescued could finally set off for their new, safe homes in Poland. It has been a difficult journey, full of obstacles, uncertainty, and sleepless nights.

As you know, we initially bought transporters available at Male, but it quickly turned out that they did not meet the requirements of Qatar Airways. This was our first attempt, about a month ago, unfortunately unsuccessful. My sister came to the rescue and brought transporters with aviation certification from Poland. It seemed that this would solve the problem, but then more requirements appeared – the ventilation holes had to be of a specific size: exactly 19 mm x 19 mm. We had to secure them additionally, which we did.

The second attempt to fly out took place on June 13. The cats were checked in and the transporters were thoroughly inspected. Airport staff took them to the plane. Unfortunately, after about 30 minutes, the phone rang – the cats would not be flying. One of the supervisors did not accept our safety measures. He demanded a metal mesh permanently attached – welded or screwed in place. The cats returned home with me.

A frantic search for suitable materials began. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a net anywhere in Male that met the strict requirements. Nevertheless, we didn’t give up. Before our next attempt to fly out, scheduled for June 17, we obtained a metal mesh with 1 mm thick rods (the minimum requirement was 2 mm) and went to the airport to show it to the decision-makers. After lengthy discussions and my requests, a compromise was reached – double mesh protection was accepted.

The installation of the new protection took two days and two nights. And finally, after so many difficulties, our cats: Tutuś (Tutu), Malinka (Snow), Bursztynek (Oggy), and Lucuś arrived safely in Poland! 😻
It was a journey full of nerves, tears and struggles against adversity, but we made it. We kept our promise to these cats – they left a country where they had no chance of finding safe and loving homes.
