Max and Rose hit the road for the neutering procedure 🩵😺

Rose and Max on their way to the neutering procedure
Today our two brave kittens, Rose and Max, took a fast boat to Naifaru Island, where they will undergo neutering at Atoll Vet Clinic. A European vet will take care of them on site, and after the procedure they will spend 2-3 days in the hospital. The cats are safe and in good hands 💛.
The Naifaru clinic operates within the Atoll Marine Center – it’s part of one of the oldest NGOs in the Maldives, Naifaru Juvenile. The main focus of the site is sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation, as well as environmental education. They perform spaying and neutering of cats as an additional mission 😊.
We sometimes send our cats there for treatments – especially those that tolerate travel well in a carrier – because it’s cheaper than in Malé, while providing professional and caring care.
We are keeping our fingers crossed for Rose and Max – get back in shape and home soon 🐱.

Rose is an exceptional kitty with a wonderful character – friendly, trusting and full of love. Despite the difficult experiences she went through, she has not lost her trust in people and still happily shows her affection.
Her eye, or rather what was left of it, had to be removed, but now the wound is completely healed. Rose feels great and is living a happy, carefree life – as if nothing bad had ever happened!

Dear friends, as I promised yesterday, I have new news for you from Rose!
Fortunately, the operation went without complications, but the kitten has to be in a collar for some time so that she doesn’t rip the stitches. Now ahead of her are follow-up visits and making sure the wound heals nicely and quickly. I’m already taking her to her first check-up today.
Rose is a very calm kitty who doesn’t protest a bit at the procedures. I have the impression that the little one knows that it’s all for her good ❤.

Dear friends, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contributions to Rose’s rescue.
As I wrote in yesterday’s update, the cat was already scheduled for surgery today, which is currently underway. I promise that when the surgery is over I will let you know how our heroine is feeling. Keep your fingers crossed for her.

Dear friends, the doctor said that Rose can already be operated on, but there is still a shortage of 400 zloty! The operation is scheduled for tomorrow morning, but if I don’t have this money, the doctors won’t perform it, because I’m already in debt at the clinic.
I am very much asking for help for Rose, she can’t wait. And to everyone who has helped so far to raise money for Rose’s operation, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

A cat without an eye, but with a huge wound in its place sits on the staircase – such information I received together with two photos of the injured Rose. I immediately went to the place, but the kitty was no longer there. Apparently, she ran away when people tried to catch her. I looked for Rose everywhere, knocked on apartments, but I couldn’t find her anywhere.
I looked for Rose for several days. And when I had almost lost hope, I finally found her. The frightened, suffering cat hid in a corner near a dumpster. The eye was no longer bleeding, as it had become encased in dirt and fur, forming a thick shell.
Fortunately, I was able to catch Rose. I carried her straight to the clinic. After a thorough examination, the doctor said that the kitty was in a very bad condition. She has a cracked eye socket, the wound in the area of the eye is infected. You can see that pus is oozing from it. The doctor says that this is very dangerous, because if the infection enters the brain, Rose will die.
The crust from the wound cannot simply be removed, it needs to be slowly and gently soaked. Rose is in a state of shock and has a high fever. She has been given intravenous strong painkillers and sedatives, an antibiotic and a strengthening drip.
The doctor says Rose must have very urgent surgery to remove what’s left of her eye. The surrounding tissues may also have to be removed. During the operation, the doctor will see if the broken orbital bones can be put back together. Rose needs to be operated on immediately as soon as her condition allows.
The doctor is unable to determine whether Rose had an accident or whether someone deliberately maimed her like this. But that doesn’t matter at the moment. All that matters now is to save Rose from further suffering and death.
I am very, very much asking for help for Rose.
