Max and Rose hit the road for the neutering procedure 🩵😺

Rose and Max on their way to the neutering procedure
Today our two brave kittens, Rose and Max, took a fast boat to Naifaru Island, where they will undergo neutering at Atoll Vet Clinic. A European vet will take care of them on site, and after the procedure they will spend 2-3 days in the hospital. The cats are safe and in good hands 💛.
The Naifaru clinic operates within the Atoll Marine Center – it’s part of one of the oldest NGOs in the Maldives, Naifaru Juvenile. The main focus of the site is sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation, as well as environmental education. They perform spaying and neutering of cats as an additional mission 😊.
We sometimes send our cats there for treatments – especially those that tolerate travel well in a carrier – because it’s cheaper than in Malé, while providing professional and caring care.
We are keeping our fingers crossed for Rose and Max – get back in shape and home soon 🐱.

The paw has been operated on and hopefully soon the male cat will be able to run like other healthy cats.

Dear Friends,
Max is already at the clinic, where he is facing paw surgery today. I’m very worried, because he’s still a tiny kitten, and the procedure requires anesthesia. However, I believe that everything will go well and he will soon be back to full strength.

Thanks to your support, we managed to raise the amount for the surgery of his broken paw, which is scheduled for Monday. It is a huge relief and hope that this brave little guy will be able to run and enjoy life again.
Max is feeling better and better – he is resting a lot, gaining strength, and the wounds on both paws are slowly healing. He is extremely brave and patient. He allows the wounds to be washed and lubricated, as if he understands that it’s all for his benefit. And after all, he is still a cat baby….

Two large, bloody wounds on his paws are the first thing that strikes my eye when I look at Max, a stray kitten. A bone fragment is sticking out of one of the wounds. This paw is twisted at a strange angle and when I touch it, Max meows loudly, in pain. The paw is hot and swollen. It looks very bad.
Max, a deathly frightened, about three-four-month-old male cat, hid in a cell in one of the buildings. Fortunately, with the help of neighbors, I managed to catch him. I took the poor, suffering kitty to the clinic.
The doctor looked at his paws and immediately ordered an X-ray. The x-ray shows that one of Max’s paws is very badly broken. The bones are crushed and displaced. The only way to prevent Max from becoming crippled for life, is surgery. Without it, the paw cannot be put back together.
The doctor cleaned and disinfected the wounds on Max’s paws In one of the paws, the one that is so hot, infection has already set in and necrosis has begun to develop. That’s why Max’s every touch hurts so much. The doctor says that the most important thing now is to stop the infection, because if the necrosis continues to develop, the paw cannot be saved. And Max’s body is so weakened by the pain and inflammation that the infection may even develop into sepsis.
The doctor has given Max antibiotic injections, strong painkillers and a strengthening drip for now. As soon as Max’s fever drops and his condition is stable, he will have to be operated on to put the broken paw back together and remove the tissues involved in the necrosis. This is the only way to save this little guy.
I am not able to pay for everything on my own. As much as I would like to. I need your help. Max needs your help. Please help to save him.
